On our second day in Beijing China we started out by visiting the Mao Zedong Mausoleum. We had visited Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum in Vietnam, and since we were there, we decided to visit Chairman Mao’s, as well. We had to check our bags and cameras before we were allowed inside. It was another somber atmosphere, with a funeral mood.
Most of the day we spent at the Forbidden City, which used to be the National Palace and is now a museum. It was very impressive! We walked through the series of gates and and went into one of the exhibits (The Royal Treasures Exhibit). There’s so much to see it would have taken us more than a day and a lot more energy to see the whole palace!
