Wat Phra Singh is touted in our lonely planet guide book as “the real star amid the inner city’s soaring stupas, and a perfect example of Lanna architecture.” However, we weren’t that impressed. Maybe after seeing the Grand Palace in Bangkok one is not easily impressed by other Thai temples (or maybe we were just hungry and tired ;)).

After seeing what was supposedly the best of the temples in central Chiang Mai City, we decided we didn’t need to see anymore. However, we still wanted to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, perched up on a hilltop, and it was around 4pm, so we headed off to try to make it to Doi Suthep in time for the sunset.
