We decided to spend a leisurely four days in Nha Trang, a beautiful beach town along the south central coast of Vietnam. When we arrived after a sleepless 12.5 hour ride on the sleeper bus we pulled up to an amazing sunrise along the beach! The beach seemed to stretch on forever and there were all kinds of people exercising- swimming and doing Tai Chi in the glowing golden morning light. It was a gorgeous site!
We took it low key here in Nha Trang, to rest up a bit and so George could catch up with work. The first three days we just walked to the beach for a while.
The waves are a lot rougher here than at the beaches in Thailand, so you can only swim on the calmer days.
We wanted to take the cable car across the ocean to Vinpearl Resort, but in order to buy a ticket for the cable car you also have to buy a ticket to the amusement park, which was too expensive for us.
Our last day in Nha Trang we spent at the Thap Ba Mineral Springs Mud Bath! That was an experience ;). First we got to soak in a tub of luke warm slimy grainy greenish gray mud. Then we lied out on beach chairs to let the mud dry. After that we took a long shower, trying to rinse off all the mud. (It really does make your skin silky smooth!) Next we went to a tub of mineral water, which we were surprised to find was again only slightly warm. After that we ate lunch at the restaurant inside the mineral bath complex. Then we moved on to the swimming pools. The big pools with clear blue chlorinated water looked so refreshing, until we put a foot in and realized the first pool was 38 degrees Celsius! George was able to get in, but it was just too hot for me, so I opted for the tad bit cooler kitty pool. Further down there was also a cold (or not heated) pool and a jacuzzi. There is also a nifty fake mineral waterfall, but it only lasted a minute and we couldn’t figure out how to turn it back on. Then it was time for one more rinse off in the high powered spray area, before catching the 3pm shuttle back to our hotel. It was $22 for the two of us for the mud bath, which included the mineral bath and pools, and 40,000 dong ($2.30) per person for round trip shuttle.
